Ballet/Jazz - Summer 2024

Description

A class focusing on proper ballet and jazz technique. Jazz technique is developed from ballet with small but noticable differences such as parallel vs turned out feet. Ballet is typically more fluid where jazz is more upbeat. The similarities and differences are what make learning these styles together a blast.

Dance classes will meet in the lower level of the theatre building
Classes meet once a week at scheduled time.
A Parent/Guardian must sign their child in and out.
Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

Session Schedule: June 10th - August 8th
- NOTICE : All Dance & Tumble Classes start 1 week later than Theatre Classes
No Classes: July 1st - 4th
Final Sharings: Classes will end with an in class presentation during the last week of class.
Price: Davenport Resident*: $100 | Non Resident*: $120

*Classes & events cancelled by inclement weather or facility emergency cannot be made up at a later time.

*DJT is a proud program of Davenport Parks & Recreation. Our programs and facility are supported by Davenport taxpayers. Therefore, all Davenport residents receive 20% off registration fee (capped at $20 per class).

Attire (The following dance attire is required for all classes and can be purchased locally or online. (There are no color requirements on dance apparel) All hair must be pulled back):

Ballet: Leotard, tights (suggested color: Pink) dance skirt/shorts OR Form fitting top, dance pants/leggings, tights. Shoes: pink or black leather/canvas ballet shoes. No house shoes or fabric soles.
Jazz: Leotard and/or form fitting top, Dance pants/leggings, tights (suggested color: Tan) Shoes: black/tan leather jazz shoes.
