Hip Hop

Description

Originating in the 1970’s South Bronx in predominantly African American community, this style was born from a need to express. Students will explore popular basic hip hop steps alongside hip-hop music. This style builds precision and coordination where the focus will be on developing a dancer’s style.

Dance classes will meet in the lobby of Davenport Junior Theatre.

Classes meet once a week at scheduled time.
A Parent/Guardian must sign their child in and out.
All students must be potty-trained before enrolling.
Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

Session Schedule: January 12th - May 9th (16 Weeks)
No Class: March 16-21 (Spring Break)
Recital Day: Saturday, May 16. Exact format, days & times will be announced by Week 3 of class.
Dress Rehearsals: May 12, 13, OR 14. Exact format, days, & times will be announced by Week 3 of class.
Price: Davenport Resident*: $190-200 | Non Resident*: $210-220
- Costume Fee: $50 costume fee is included in the price of registration.

*Classes & events cancelled by inclement weather or facility emergency cannot be made up at a later time.
*DJT is a proud program of Davenport Parks & Recreation. Our programs and facility are supported by Davenport taxpayers. Therefore, all Davenport residents receive 20% off registration fee (capped at $20 per class).

Attire (The following dance attire is required for all classes and can be purchased locally or online. (There are no color requirements on dance apparel) All hair must be pulled back:

Loose fitting and comfortable clothing; dance/athletic pants and athletic top. Avoid restricting clothing such as denim.
Shoes: black jazz shoes OR clean tennis shoes with socks.
