Joanna Brewer, Instructor

Joanna started her acting career by starring and directing family members in her own fairytale productions as soon as she could talk. Once she realized she could continue playing pretend as an adult, she decided to learn as much as she could about it.

She got her BA in Theatre Performance with a minor in Dance from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, then went on to receive her MFA in Acting for Film from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. During her undergrad, she was able to tour a show in London and Dublin while studying abroad. She has had training in almost every area of theatre, including directing, costuming, makeup, lighting, and set as well as performance on stage, camera, and voice over.

Since returning from the west coast, Joanna has been able to perform in theatre productions in the Quad Cities (favorite roles included Lucille in Junie B Jones is NOT a Crook-Circa 21 and Palette in Legally Blonde-On The Edge Productions) as well as do voice over and on camera work in Des Moines, the QCA, and St Louis.

She recently finished her 5th production of directing the Muscatine Middle School musical and choreographed Suessical for Double Threat Studios. When not working, Joanna enjoys spending time with her beautiful family and trying to learn how to garden (any and all tips are welcome!)
