Abbie Carpenter, Instructor

AAbbie is a proud Junior Theatre alum. She began taking acting classes at age eight and performed in many mainstage productions at DJT. Her favorites include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and The March Hare in Alice in Wonderland. As a student, Abbie also served as a junior staff member and assistant teacher. She began teaching at DJT in 2018 and taught for several years while earning her BA in Theatre Arts from St. Ambrose University. During her time at Ambrose, Abbie performed in many productions, with favorites including Big Fish, The Little Prince, and Tartuffe, and was nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship competition. She is also an experienced props designer and has worked on several DJT mainstage productions as a designer, including Annie and Imagine That. 

Abbie has recently returned to DJT after living in Boston, where she earned her Masters of Social Work from Boston University in 2024. Abbie is now a K-12 school social worker, and is devoted to helping students thrive in all aspects of their lives. In her free time, Abbie enjoys any and all arts and crafts, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and hanging out with her furry best friend, Serena.
