Sign In / Sign Out Procedures:

  • All Dance classes will meet in the lower level of the theatre building.
  • All Tumbling classes will meet in Cottage 10
  • Guardians do NOT need to be present for sign in, but MUST be present for sign out.

Classroom Environment

The classroom is for enrolled students only. Children participate to their fullest when it is only their fellow students in the classroom. There are designated times throughout the session where parents and families will be invited into the studio space. Masks are not required for students or staff.

Attendance: Sick or Running Late?

It is important for all students to be in class and arrive on time properly dressed. That being said, if your child is sick please keep them home to get better. If your child will be absent or you are running late please contact us at 563-888-3431 or email Jennifer.Hampton@davenportiowa.com.

Students are allowed 2 absences in a session. That being said, if a student misses 2 classes they are not automatically dimissed from the class. Let our staff know ahead of time if/when your child will be absent so we can plan ahead. Our Coordinator will be in touch regarding absences should they reach 2.

RECITALS! - Saturday, May 18th OR Sunday, May 19th

All DJT dance classes conclude with a costumed recital for friends and families. Information on exact day and times of recitals and rehearsals will be announced week 4 of classes.

  • Dress rehearsals will take place May 14th, 15th, & 16th
  • Tickets are required for entry. Performances are free but seating is limited
    • All registered students will receive 5 tickets to their recital
    • Additional ticket sign up will be available April 15th-27th.
  • Dress Rehearsals will take place May 14th, 15th, & 16th.

Costume Fees

There is a $50 costume fee due for each student enrollment by February 23rd.

  • Fees can be paid by going to this link then select Performing Arts / Dance Jr Thtr - Costume Fee
    • Go thorugh the registration process, enrolling each student for their class's Costume Fee Course.
  • If your child is in multiple courses, you will register for each costume fee course.

Spring Break & Holidays!

  • Our programs will follow the Davenport Schools Spring Break schedule. We will not have classes Monday, March 11th - Sunday March 17th. Classes will resume Monday, March 28th.
  • All classes will run on Monday Holidays, including MLK Day on Jan 15th.
  • Saturday classes will not meet April 6th, due to Theatre Showcases. There is a scheduled makeup day on Saturday, May 11th.

Potty Accidents

All students must be potty trained. If a student were to have an accident in class our staff will come get the parent from the lobby. If a parent/guardian are not present our staff is prepared to assist them. We have extra underwear and clothing in a special bag for them to change. *For Budding Ballet & Tumble Tot classes we ask one adult stays in the lobby to assist with potty breaks/accidents if needed.

Communication : Many important tools

We will communicate with you in a variety of ways. Handouts and emails are our main source. If you have any updates to your contact information please see the Coordinator or the Desk staff. Please read through all communication carefully as it will contain important info. Instructors are available 5 minutes before and after class for questions!

We Want To Help Your Child Succeed!

Please let our Dance Coordinator or Desk Team know if your child has any intellectual, developmental, or medical concerns. We have a brief form to fill out. We want all students to be successful, safe, and having fun in class, the information you provide us helps us achieve that!

Classroom Safety

We provide a safe, bully-free classroom environment. If a child is engaged in inappropriate behavior, we work with parents to solve it. Physical aggression will not be tolerated in class.

Weather/Cancellations

We will cancel classes due to extreme weather or emergencies. We post notifications to the main page of our website and on our voice message system, 563-326-7862. Please use your discretion and stay safe (Any weather related absences may not count towards a student’s 3 ab-sences) Classes cancelled due to weather will not be rescheduled.

Dance Class Essentials : How to Prepare for Class!

  • Water bottle - Important for breaks!(We have a cooler with disposable cups available but personal water bottles are a more sanitary option!)
  • Proper dance shoes/attire
  • Hair pulled back/out of face
  • Use the restroom before class
  • Open mind and a positive attitude!

Shoe & Leotard Exchange Program

Here at DJT Dance we make an effort to make classes accessible and affordable for all parents and students. That’s why we have a shoe and leotard exchange program! How it works: We accept lightly worn dance shoes and leotards as a donation when students outgrow them. Students who donate their shoes/leotard will have an opportunity to trade in their old shoes for another size (if available).
