Kelsey Walljasper, Instructor
Kelsey has been in love with theatre ever since she beat out another girl for the lead role of a mouse in a show that she can't remember when she was an age that she's not even 100% sure of. From there, she continued to perform whenever she had the chance -- in roles as iconic as the elf that "blew up all the basketballs" in her 6th grade Christmas musical to her absolute favorite roles in "Spring Awakening," "RENT," and "Jesus Christ Superstar." She has also loved working backstage for a number of Quad City area theaters, including Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, QC Theatre Workshop, Playcrafters, and The Spotlight Theatre.
Kelsey is a graduate of Augustana College with a B.A. in Psychology, Women and Gender Studies, and Theatre. She also holds an M.S.E.d. in School Counseling from Western Illinois University - Quad Cities. She has volunteered with the Center for Living Arts and their youth theatre camps for almost ten years and also works with them and Augustana College on their collaboration of the Quad Cities' Penguin Project chapter.
When not performing, volunteering, or doing anything and everything theatre-related, you can find Kelsey playing lots of 'Uno' and other fun activities with her kiddos in the Moline School District, where she currently works as an elementary school counselor. She also loves playing the roles of "wife" to her wife, Myka, and "Momma" to her little boy, Sawyer.
Kelsey is ecstatic to be joining the team at DJT and can't wait to work with the amazing team and talent that DJT has to offer!
